We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Taekman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been inspired by ideas and ability to bring those ideas to life. EBOOST was actually founded because of a failed deal I was putting together with 50 Cent and a big Supplement Manufacturer and when 50 Cent didn’t show up to the last meeting and the deal fell apart one of my closest friends and I said WHY IS THERE NO HEALTHY ENERGY Powders in the market. We selfishly wanted to create a product we would take everyday but we were adamant about the product being Natural, No Artificial anything and loaded with most efficacious ingredients and formula. We felt strongly if it was good enough for us there would be a large market that would appreciate that standards and quality we created the product to and that was why we started EBOOST.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
EBOOST is CLEAN FUEL FOR A BETTER YOU, the best tasting and most nutritious functional energy drinks and powders. I came from the music industry and fell into the CPG / Supplement world by accident and I would say like everything in my life I see an opportunity and a challenge and it fires me up to go after it. I love the idea of going into foreign territory or unfamiliar places and spaces and figuring it out with grit, hustle and drive. I dove headfirst into the CPG / Supplement industry with zero experience other than a good marketing mind and instinct and I understand consumers and their need states and importance of branding and creating quality. Like every business you have to be willing to outwork everyone else, lead by example and have the ability to have others believe in you and your mission and rally behind you and help be the fuel to your growth and efforts. I worked for P Diddy aka Puff Daddy Aka Sean Combs and he taught me the most important lesson in life and business and that is anything is possible if you have the will, passion and grit to make it happen and it is your job and responsibility to figure it out and failure is never an option. Having that type of belief keeps me always pushing the boundaries and raises my expectations from everyone I am doing business with and not ever settling for the word NO or NOT POSSIBLE. I also learned with all your hustle and grit you still need a plan, you need benchmarks and you have to have self awareness and most importantly surround yourself with great people and a great team to hold you accountable and everyone working for the same goals and outcomes. I am most excited about our SUPER FUEL beverage and all the new distribution we have coming on and we will finally have a budget to put a real marketing plan and programs in place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to? My favorite go to spot is Lucali Pizza in Carroll Gardens, it only has 10 tables inside and always massive line so you need to be juiced to get right in but without question best pizza EVER. LURE Fishbar is my other go to spot its the type of restaurant if you could only pick one that would be the one the variety of the menu (sushi, fish, meat, pasta, burgers, salads) all best quality and the venue is like inside of a boat with great music and ambiance all the time. We would go on a bike ride and peddle throughout the city over Brooklyn Bridge through Dumbo to Williamsburg and over the Williamsburg bridge up the East River through Central Park all the way back down to Soho and then have great wine and pasta outside at Bar Pitti on 6th Ave. Working out is critical and my favorite workouts are Gloveworx, Lions Den Yoga, Michael Olajide boxing, Alex Toussaint class at Peloton Studio. The Brooklyn Museum is a must see and love taking people over to Red Hook Brooklyn for some great bars and the best Hometown BBQ followed up by amazing ice cream across the street at Ample Hills. For cocktails at night the roof of Sixty Soho and then work your way downstairs to the infamous BUTTERFLY. Shopping in Soho, Little Italy and Lower East side is where you will find all the great boutiques and best gear and sneakers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout? That would have to be my mother Sue Taekman. She has always propped me up, supported me, encouraged me to go out into the world with confidence and don’t be afraid to try and fail and always know I had her love and support. She also taught me the importance of being kind to everyone, having empathy and always having a positive energy and spirit and tough times don’t last but tough people do.
